Dahi Bhallay

Dahi Bhallay is a dish famous in Pakistan, which is a favourite street food of many. It is basically a fried gram fritter; topped with yogurt, chutneys, and different condiments. It is sweet, spicy, and finger licking good!

I remember my mom making Dahi Bhallay for eid every year. The task that used to be assigned to my sister and I was to squeeze out water from the bhallays, after they were soaked in water. I used to look forward to my mother making this delicious snack, so that I can squeeze the water from bhallays, and also because they used to be so delicious. I tried to recreate her recipe using my memory of how she used to make them. Although I will always prefer her Dahi Bhallay over mine, but mine also turned out really well, hehehe!

Pepperoni Pizza

Everyone loves pizzas, but everyone has has their own preferences when it comes to their perfect pizza. Some like a thin crust, whereas some prefer a thick one. Some like a loaded pizza with different vegetables and meat toppings. While others like a minimalist pizza with basic tomato sauce and cheese.

I like my pizza to have a thin and crisp crust, with just basic toppings of cheese and tomato sauce, and little to no meat topping. I have added pepperoni for my recipe today.

Spicy Aaloo with Plain Parathas

It is the holy month of Ramadan, the month in which muslims observe a fast from sunrise till sunset. Sehri is the last meal which we have before the sunsrises, which is followed by the fast for the day. The fast is then ended with Iftaar, at the time of sunset.

I like to have a wholesome Sehri that would keep me full for the day while I am fasting. With only potatoes, plain flour and basic spices in the kitchen, I decided to make Spicy Aaloo with parathas. The spiciness of the aaloos and the hint of sweetness from the parathas complimented each other very well. I made this recipe as an experiment, and it turned out so well that i decided to put it up on the blog. 😀

Paneer Jalferezi

Paneer, also known as Cottage Cheese is made by curdling fresh milk, and separating the whey from the curd. Once the whey is drained fully, the leftover curd which is left is Paneer. It is so versatile that you can make pakoras with it, use in a gravy, or in desserts aswell.

Paneer dishes are not readily available in restaurants in Pakistan, so I decided to make something by myself. Since Palak Paneer and Butter Paneer are so mainstream, I thought of cooking Paneer Jalferezi. It turned out really yummy! And was very quick and easy to make as well.

Chicken Lasagna

Lasagna is my all time favorite dish. It is yummy and so comforting. Although it is a tedious process to cook it, with a long grocery list; but it is so worth it.

Cheesy white sauce, and saucy chicken layered between lasagna sheets. Yum, makes me want to have it again. 😀

Green Salad with Grilled Chicken

I always used to think that salads are boring and bland. But when unhealthy eating habits results in extra kilos on your body, one has to make healthy choices to shed the weight.

So, I tried incorporating healthy meals in my diet, and I was pleasantly surprised how wrong I was about Salads being boring and bland. They are delicious and filling too.

I made this Green Salad with Grilled Chicken, with the ingredients that I alread had in my kitchen. I was surprised to see that with just a few ingredients how delicious it turned out to be.

Qeema Paratha

Parathas are wheat flour flat bread, which has a filling in the middle. The filling can be just anything you like; potatoes, cooked lentils, minced meat or even cheese.

Qeema paratha is a perfect brunch recipe for those lazy weekends, when you wake up late and it is too late for breakfast and too early for lunch.

Also when you have left over qeema, and you don’t want to have it the usual way; so you just roll up some chapatis and have it as a paratha! Sounds delicious, no?

Aaloo Samosa

Aaloo samosas take me back in time, to my student life. When Aaloo samosa was my staple meal along with a hot cup of tea. These samosas are filling, easy on pocket, and very tasty too.

Even though you can easily find them in Pakistan, but I love making them at home. I add tamarind pulp in the samosas, which make them chatpatta. 😀
